CHARITIES

The Smartie Challenge (Water for Kenya)

Kibera houses almost 1,000,000 people and is the biggest slum in Africa and one of the biggest in the world.

Where possible, we are recycling Smartie tubes and empty tubes will be available in the box on the coffee table in the hall for anyone who wishes to take one.

Please continue to donate towards this very worthwhile cause.

World Mission Stamp Appeal

We can all support World Mission Council’s Stamp Appeal by donating used postage stamps, both British and foreign - the sale of these to collectors will raise funds towards this appeal.

Damaged stamps have no value. Please cut the stamps from the envelope leaving at least a quarter of an inch of paper all around. Don't try to remove the paper from the back. There is a box for stamps in the church hall.

Starter Packs Inverclyde

Starter Packs Inverclyde was launched on 23rd September 2002 with the support of Scottish Churches Housing Association (now Action), Inverclyde Council and a number of local businesses. It was set up as a direct response to the problems faced by homeless people who are offered a tenancy but lack sufficient funds to purchase the many small household items needed to set up and maintain a home. The project is a registered charity (SC 033306) of which over 20 local churches are members.

Items can be taken to the depot at Unit 2, Empress Court, Greenock where volunteers sort the items and make up the various packs which are then distributed by recognised agencies.

Starter Packs Inverclyde continually require the help of individuals and organisations to fulfil our goals of providing for needy people in Inverclyde.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of items which gives an indication of items needed for Starter Packs. Contact us if you have an item you would like to donate but is not listed here. Please make sure that anything you give us is in ready-to-use condition. We cannot take used electrical items of any kind, furniture or clothing and we reserve the right to dispose of any donated item we cannot use in starter packs including by selling or donating to charity shops.
